NIMS Exer-Rest

Non Invasive Monitoring Systems has developed a therapeutic technique for temporary relief of musculoskeletal pain associated with osteoarthritis is a platform that repetitively moves a supine person in a head to foot direction at about 140 times a minute with a displacement of 3/4 inch or less over a period of 30 to 45 minutes. The hand-held controller provides digital values of speed, travel, and time. The Exer-Rest is designed such that the user can utilize and operate it without assistance. ETP, Inc. was directly involved in the electrical design and safety approvals of this ISO-60601 unit.

PEPSI TELELINK

Pepsi required a vending machine telemetry system to relay status information from its soft drink machines to the local distributing companies. The Telelink monitored and reported multiple status indicators including: total sales, sales per item, sold out, or any tampering. A major problem for the designers was where the Telelink was located — inside a vending machine where the environment is cold and humid.

APT PROMOTIONAL VIDEO SYSTEM

aptterm1athb.jpg (2386 bytes)Electro Technical Products, Inc. worked with a NASDAQ company to refine an interactive promotional video system for the grocery industry. The device uses graphics and a touch screen monitor to solicit marketing responses from customers as well as provide a financial services terminal. The system also employs a frequent shopper program to encourage consumer responses to marketing queries. The nationwide network is interconnected via VSAT to a main database which is able to upload and download megabytes of video and data in seconds.

RADIO BASED MODEM FOR LOCAL AREA NETWORKS

Electro Technical Products, Inc. developed an RF-based modem to provide wireless data networking for firms who must be accommodated without fuss, or simply want mobility for their workstations and peripherals. Initiated by a South Florida firm, this project is intended for collecting data from office machines for billing purposes.

BUS FARE MONITOR

Electro Technical Products, Inc. designed of a fare collection system for the Puerto Rico Transit Authority. The system thwarts the efforts of embezzlers who were stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the authority's mass transit system. The system had to be complex enough to keep the embezzlers out, but simple enough for honest employees to expediently retrieve money. Our engineers also worked on designing new collection boxes for the individual busses which improve the overall security of the system.

RADIO BASED HOME DETENTION SYSTEM

PlaqueThis project involved the implementation of a radio receiver and transmitter operating under FCC part 15 that keeps the wearer of the transmitter within the receiving range of the base unit. Developed for a firm in Pennsylvania, this project is currently shipping at the rate of 200 units per month. One of the main design goals of this project was to cut the clients cost of units by 50%. The goal was exceeded, with the cost to the client being 40% of the old design.

BEVERAGE DISPENSING EQUIPMENT

Other design wins include commercial controls for the beverage industry. A recent winner here is a multi-cup coffee dispenser for hospitals, cafeterias and institutional use. The design had to be rugged and simple to meet the customers cost and reliability requirements. Other projects in this area include sold out detection systems, and "Value Engineered"  designs to reduce the cost of existing equipment.

TIME AND ATTENDANCE SYSTEM

A cabinet manufacturing concern in Clearwater, Florida needed to automate the collection of time and attendance information for their five factory locations. They wanted the flexibility to add job costing and tracking without rewriting their off the shelf accounting system. The solution was designed around standard data collection terminals with custom terminal and applications software to weld the system into a useful management tool. The system has been in operation for more than four years.

TOOTH BRUSH SANITIZER

This consumer item had to meet strict cost requirements while maintaining safety and functionality. A tough job for the small firm that wanted this product. We helped them meet all of their requirements, including the safety, mechanical and electrical design. This item also demonstrates the flexibility of  Electro Technical Products, Inc. Even though this task was trivial from the electrical design standpoint, other challenges were high and required multiple talents to accomplish.
